A Journey of Hope: Carried by Courage, Led by Women
In the heart of the Philippines, where resilience rises from every challenge, a powerful movement is unfolding, quietly yet powerful. Our recent visit in collaboration with Project PEARLS, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and families living in the most impoverished communities in the Philippines. By focusing on Peace, Education, Aspiration, Respect, Love, and Smiles. Their mission is to provides access to education, nutrition, healthcare, and empowerment programs. Upon arrival last May 31 of 2025, we were warmly welcomed by both staff members and families participating in the G.R.O.W. (Giving Resources and Opportunities to Women) program—a livelihood and empowerment initiative. This is one of their solutions that uplift not only individuals but entire communities, especially those living in urban slums, dumpsites, and conflict-stricken areas.
Project PEARLS has long been a sanctuary of support for underserved communities, particularly in areas struggling with poverty and lack of access to basic resources. But this time, the spotlight turned to the unsung heroes of these communities, the mothers, the women, the backbones of families who continue to carry both the burdens and the dreams of generations. Together with Project PEARLS, we launched a leadership program crafted specifically for women. More than a workshop, it was gathering of hearts. Through storytelling, shared experiences, and conversations rooted in reality, we empowered mothers to reclaim their voices, recognize their worth, and see themselves as leaders, not just in their homes, but in their communities. Each woman who attended carried a story of sacrifice, of strength, of silent victories. And as they shared, something beautiful happened: they began to realize that their struggles were not signs of weakness, but marks of courage. We saw tears. We heard laughter. We witnessed transformation. This program wasn’t about giving answers, it was about lighting sparks. By creating a safe space, we encouraged these women to see that they already possessed the power to lead, to influence, and to inspire others. Through their own experiences, they learned that leadership isn’t reserved for those with titles, it is embodied by those who continue, every day, despite the odds.
Their dedication goes beyond charity. It’s about building futures by investing in people, especially women, who have long been the silent strength of their families and communities. Through this partnership, we’ve seen firsthand how transformative it is when women are given the opportunity to rise. We are deeply honored to collaborate with Project PEARLS, an organization whose unwavering commitment to uplifting communities burdened by poverty has long been a beacon of hope. Their efforts go beyond providing essential services such as education, nourishment, and healthcare, they recognize that true, lasting change also comes from empowering individuals, especially women, to recognize their value, amplify their voices, and become catalysts for transformation within their communities. This partnership reflects our shared belief that every person, regardless of circumstance, deserves the opportunity to thrive. When a woman feels heard, seen, and supported, a ripple effect begins: her family flourishes, her community strengthens, and future generations are inspired to dream bigger.
Climbing for a Cause: Letizia Pileggi’s Journey to Empower Women Worldwide
Italian-American entrepreneur Letizia Pileggi is turning her lov of mountain climbing into a global force for women's empowerment. Her upcoming summit of Mount Kilimanjaro is a fundraising initiative for Climb Your Everest (CYE), a non-profit dedicated to empowering marginalized women through education.
Letizia's personal journey, growing up in a conservative Italian family, instilled in her a deep understanding of the transformative power of education in fostering independence and breaking societal constraints.
Her Kilimanjaro climb directly supports CYE's educational programs in Nepal, the Philippines, India, and other countries. CYE equips women with essential skills that lead to self-sufficiency and enable them to become active contributors within their communities. The organization's core values emphasize resilience, strength, humility, and humanity in the pursuit of empowerment. Letizia's ascent aims to amplify the critical role of education in the advancement of women worldwide.
Letizia's commitment to this cause solidified in 2024 following an introduction to Dr. Sara Safari's Climb Your Everest and a subsequent impactful visit to Nepal. CLIMBING FOR A CAUSE: CONQUERING MOUNTAINS, EMPOWERING WOMEN
Meet Avi Razavi, an Iranian-American engineer with a passion for mountain climbing and a mission to empower women. Avi is set to conquer Ama Dablam, a technical peak in the eastern Himalayas standing at 6,812 meters (22,349 ft). The name Ama Dablam means "mother's necklace," symbolizing the mountain's ridges that resemble a mother's arms embracing her child.
Avi's Journey: Growing up in Iran, Avi witnessed the challenges faced by women in underprivileged communities. She realized early on that education is the key to growth and independence. Avi is dedicating her climb to the non-profit organization Climb Your Everest (CYE), which empowers marginalized women through educational programs in Nepal, the Philippines, India, and other countries. CYE focuses on empowering women to become independent by learning and utilizing skills within their communities. The movement honors every woman's struggle for empowerment and emphasizes resilience, strength, humility, and humanity.
How It All Began: Avi's passion for mountains and her commitment to empowering women are deeply rooted in her personal experiences. Despite facing societal restrictions, she pursued her dreams and found inspiration in Dr. Sara Safari's non-profit, Climb Your Everest, through a Netflix show called the After Shock which is about the 2015 earthquake in Nepal. Avi's journey with CYE started by teaching educational programs to women in Nepal and other communities online. In 2024, she had the opportunity to visit Nepal, where she conducted workshops with CYE team and formed meaningful connections with the local community.
Join the Cause: This fully self-funded climb ensures that 100% of donations go directly to CYE. Avi's journey is a powerful reminder that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, inspire, and create change. Avi aims to raise $1 for every foot of elevation she gains on Ama Dablam, symbolizing the overcoming of obstacles and the strength required to achieve great heights. The climb will be physically and mentally demanding, reflecting the resilience needed to break barriers.
To Everyone Out There: Avi's message is clear: we all have our "Everests." By embracing our strength and breaking barriers, we can inspire one another to reach new heights. Together, we can achieve more than we ever imagined.

Lead Boldly, Inspire Relentlessly: The Power of Leading by Example
Leadership isn’t about titles or authority—it’s about impact. Every action you take, every decision you make, and every word you speak shapes the environment around you. Your actions set the tone for those around you. Lead boldly, inspire relentlessly.
The Silent Power of Action
Words have the power to encourage, uplift, and set expectations, but they can only go so far. True leadership is not about making grand speeches or issuing commands—it’s about setting a standard through action. People don’t just listen to leaders; they observe them. They pay attention to what their leaders do when no one is watching, how they handle challenges, and whether their actions align with their words.
Bold Leadership in Action
A bold leader doesn’t shy away from challenges; they confront them head-on. They understand that obstacles are inevitable, but instead of being paralyzed by fear, they use challenges as opportunities for growth. Whether it's navigating a crisis, pioneering a new initiative, or pushing for change in the face of resistance, true leaders remain steadfast in their vision and refuse to compromise on their core values.
But bold leadership isn’t just about making big moves—it’s also about taking responsibility. When things go wrong, a strong leader owns their mistakes, learns from them, and takes action to improve. They don’t shift blame or make excuses; instead, they set an example of accountability and resilience.
At the same time, bold leaders recognize the contributions of others. They don’t seek personal glory; they uplift and empower their team. When success is achieved, they give credit where it’s due, celebrating the efforts of those who helped make it possible.
The Spark That Ignites Change
Courage is contagious. When you take bold steps despite uncertainty, you show others that fear is not a reason to stand still. Your willingness to embrace challenges gives them the confidence to take risks, pursue their own goals, and step outside their comfort zones.
In any setting—whether in business, community work, or personal relationships—your leadership serves as the spark that ignites change. When you raise the bar for yourself, you elevate it for everyone around you. Your courage to act with integrity, your willingness to take responsibility, and your passion for progress set a new standard. The world needs more leaders who don’t just wait for change but actively create it. Will you be that spark? When you raise the bar for yourself, you don’t just improve your own path—you elevate everyone around you.
How to Lead by Example Every Day
Show up with purpose. Be present, engaged, and committed.
Take responsibility. Own your mistakes and learn from them.
Stay true to your values. Let integrity be your guide.
Empower others. A great leader lifts people up, not just themselves.
Be fearless in your vision. Pursue your goals with relentless passion.
A Thought to Leave You With
Every decision, every effort, and every act of kindness has a ripple effect. When you lead boldly, you encourage others to step outside their comfort zones. When you stay true to your purpose, you give others the confidence to pursue their own paths. And when you inspire relentlessly, you create a legacy that extends far beyond your own actions. True leadership isn’t about demanding greatness from others—it’s about demonstrating it in everything you do. So, step forward with confidence, stay true to your purpose, and remember lead boldly, inspire relentlessly.
Overcoming Obstacles: The Barriers to Girls' Education in Nepal
Education is a fundamental right, yet for many girls in Nepal, it remains an unattainable dream. While progress has been made, deep-rooted challenges continue to hinder their access to quality education. Addressing these challenges is crucial to creating a future where every girl can learn, grow, and achieve her full potential.
Barriers to Girls' Education in Nepal
1. Child Labor & Exploitation
Many girls in Nepal are forced into labor at a young age to support their families. Whether working in households, factories, or agricultural fields, these responsibilities keep them out of school and limit their future opportunities.
2. Poverty
Economic hardship is one of the biggest obstacles to girls’ education. Families struggling to meet basic needs often prioritize boys’ education over girls’, believing that investing in sons will yield greater financial returns in the future. Girls are often expected to contribute to household chores or engage in income-generating activities, further limiting their chances of attending school regularly.
3. Limited Awareness & Parental Illiteracy
Many parents, particularly those without formal education, do not recognize the long-term value of educating their daughters. Cultural norms and outdated beliefs reinforce the idea that a girl’s primary role is within the home rather than in a classroom. In some rural areas, parents fear that educating their daughters might make them less "marriageable," reinforcing the cycle of limited opportunities.
4. Geographic Barriers
Nepal’s mountainous and rural terrain makes school accessibility a challenge. Many girls must walk long distances through difficult landscapes, discouraging regular attendance and increasing safety concerns for parents. Long and unsafe commutes discourage parents from sending their daughters to school due to concerns about their safety.
5. Gender Discrimination
Early marriages, household duties, and societal expectations continue to limit girls' educational opportunities, reinforcing cycles of inequality. Nepal has one of the highest rates of child marriage in the world, with nearly 40% of girls married before the age of 18. Once married, girls are often expected to leave school and take on household duties, cutting short their education and limiting their future prospects.
6. Natural Disasters & Climate Change
Frequent earthquakes, floods, and landslides disrupt schooling by destroying infrastructure and displacing families. Girls are disproportionately affected, as they are often pulled from school to help with household responsibilities after such crises.
7. Political Instability & Weak Education Policies
Nepal's political landscape has seen years of instability, resulting in inadequate investment in education. Weak policies and lack of government enforcement mean that girls continue to face systemic disadvantages in accessing quality education. The lack of female teachers and role models in leadership positions within schools makes it difficult for girls to envision themselves in professional careers. Encouraging more women to become educators and mentors can inspire young girls to continue their education and aspire to greater heights.
8. Lack of Safe & Proper School Facilities
Many schools lack basic amenities such as clean restrooms, safe learning environments, and trained teachers. The absence of separate and hygienic sanitation facilities discourages adolescent girls from attending school, particularly during menstruation. Menstruation remains a taboo subject in many parts of Nepal, leading to shame and social exclusion. The lack of sanitary products and private restrooms in schools forces many girls to miss classes or drop out entirely. Without proper menstrual hygiene management, education becomes an even greater challenge.
But Together, We Can Change That!
While these barriers are significant, they are not insurmountable. Through collective efforts, we can create lasting change and ensure that every girl in Nepal has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
✅ Scholarships & Financial Aid – Making education accessible for girls in need
✅ Community Awareness – Shifting mindsets & advocating for girls’ education
✅ Better School Infrastructure – Safe spaces, proper sanitation, and trained teachers
✅ Stronger Education Policies – Equal learning opportunities for every girl
By investing in girls’ education, we are not just changing individual lives—we are transforming communities and shaping a better future for Nepal. Every girl deserves a chance to learn, grow, and break free from the limitations imposed upon her.
Join the movement and support girls' education today! Send us a message at bea@climbyoureverest.org to get involved.
Together, we can break the barriers and empower the next generation of Nepali girls!
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Inequality
Education is more than just learning facts and figures—it is the foundation for a better future. In marginalized communities, where access to resources is limited, education becomes a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking opportunities. It provides individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to build a stable and prosperous life.
One of the most significant benefits of education is that it equips individuals with the skills necessary for employment and entrepreneurship. Whether through formal schooling, vocational training, or specialized skill development programs, education prepares people to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.
For those in marginalized communities, access to education can mean the difference between a life of hardship and a life of opportunity. With the right education, individuals can:
Secure stable and better-paying jobs
Gain financial independence
Start their own businesses
Support their families and invest in their future
When education is prioritized, individuals are no longer trapped in low-paying, unstable jobs. Instead, they gain the tools to pursue careers that offer stability, security, and personal growth.
The Link Between Education and Economic Growth
Research has consistently shown a direct correlation between education and economic independence. Studies indicate that each additional year of schooling significantly increases a person’s income, providing them with better financial security and improved quality of life.
Higher literacy and education levels also lead to:
Better job opportunities – Employers seek skilled workers, and education provides the necessary qualifications.
Increased earning potential – More education means higher wages and better career progression.
Entrepreneurial success – Many individuals with education gain the confidence and knowledge to start their own businesses.
A Pathway to Economic Independence and Opportunity
Education does more than just improve individual lives—it uplifts entire communities. When people receive an education, they:
Gain independence and reduce reliance on external aid.
Contribute to their local economies through employment and business ventures.
Pass on knowledge and values to future generations, creating long-term change.
By investing in education, we create a ripple effect. Educated individuals become role models, inspiring others in their communities to pursue learning and growth. Over time, this leads to stronger, more self-sufficient societies that can break free from the cycle of poverty.
We, at Climb Your Everest believe that education should not be a privilege reserved for a few—it is a fundamental right for all. By empowering individuals through education, we pave the way for a world where everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to succeed.
Through our initiatives, we help women:
Gain access to quality education and career opportunities
Develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills
Build confidence to become changemakers in their communities
We have seen countless success stories of women who, through education, have broken barriers and created better futures for themselves and their families. And we know this is just the beginning.
Building Resilience in Education
Role of Education
Education is a transformative force, serving as the foundation for personal and societal growth. It serves as the foundation for overcoming adversity, breaking cycles of poverty, and unlocking human potential. In marginalized communities, where opportunities are scarce, education stands as a beacon of hope, offering a pathway to a brighter and more equitable future.
The role of education is especially vital in these communities, as it provides the tools needed to challenge systemic barriers such as poverty, geographic isolation, and discrimination. Without access to basic education, millions of children and youth remain trapped in a cycle of deprivation, unable to fully contribute to their families, communities, or economies. According to UNESCO, 244 million children and youth worldwide are still out of school, with the majority belonging to marginalized groups, highlighting the urgent need to address these inequities.
Beyond individual benefits, education has a profound ripple effect on entire societies. It empowers individuals to pursue meaningful employment, advocate for social change, and participate in civic processes. By investing in education, we create opportunities not only for personal advancement but also for sustainable development and collective progress.
Employment Opportunities
Access to quality education is a transformative force that empowers individuals to break free from the constraints of their circumstances, particularly by opening doors to better employment opportunities. By equipping people with critical knowledge, technical expertise, and practical skills, education enables them to access higher-paying and more stable jobs, fostering economic independence and upward mobility. For women and girls, this impact is even more profound, as education not only enhances their employability but also helps overcome systemic barriers to economic participation. Studies show that educated women earn up to 20% more than their uneducated peers, significantly boosting their financial autonomy and improving the economic well-being of their families.
Beyond providing access to employment, education fosters confidence and resilience, enabling women to seek leadership roles and challenge gender disparities in the workplace. Educated individuals are more likely to pursue careers in fields that drive innovation, sustainable development, and societal progress. Additionally, the economic benefits of education extend to entire communities; as people secure meaningful employment, they contribute to local economies, reduce poverty rates, and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. In this way, education becomes not just an individual asset but a generational tool for creating sustainable progress and fostering inclusive development.
Inspiring Future Generations
In places where resources are scarce, the impact of education transcends individual achievements, creating powerful ripple effects within families and entire communities. Educated individuals serve as role models, inspiring younger generations to pursue knowledge and dream of a better future. By demonstrating the transformative power of education, they instill hope and ambition in children, breaking cycles of poverty and fostering resilience.
These role models pave the way for progress, showing that education is not just a means to personal success but a tool to uplift entire communities. Their advocacy for better healthcare, sustainable development, and gender equality plants the seeds of change in the minds of future leaders. Literate individuals further contribute by participating in democratic processes, championing sustainable practices, and driving innovation. This creates an enduring legacy, where education fuels collective growth and empowers successive generations to build a more equitable and prosperous world.
Innovation in Challenging Times
Moreover, education is a catalyst for innovation and resilience, especially during challenging times. In the face of global issues such as climate change, economic instability, and social injustice, educated communities possess the tools to develop creative solutions and adapt to evolving circumstances. Education nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, enabling individuals to tackle complex problems with ingenuity and foresight.
The ability to innovate is particularly crucial in underserved areas, where challenges are often more pronounced. Educated individuals can leverage their knowledge to address local issues, from developing sustainable agricultural practices to advocating for equitable policies. This ripple effect drives progress and inspires others to contribute to building inclusive and thriving societies.
The transformative power of education extends beyond individual empowerment. By investing in education, particularly in marginalized regions, we cultivate the innovators, leaders, and change-makers needed to navigate crises and build a more equitable and prosperous world.
Unlocking Women's Potential with Knowledge, Skills, and Confidence
Oftentimes, the potential of women is underestimated, making it more important than ever to create opportunities for growth, learning, and leadership. At the core of our mission is a deep belief in the transformative power of education and empowerment. This is why we dedicate our efforts to providing interactive workshops designed to equip women with the essential tools to take charge of their futures.
Our workshops transcend traditional training programs, focusing on three essential pillars: leadership, financial literacy, and communication skills. Each area is a cornerstone of success, empowering women to overcome challenges and embrace opportunities with confidence and purpose."
By fostering leadership skills, we help women recognize their ability to inspire, guide, and make impactful decisions—not only in their personal lives but also in their communities.
Understanding finances is crucial for independence and security. Our workshops teach budgeting, saving, and investing skills, empowering women to make informed financial decisions.
Effective communication opens doors to new possibilities. Whether it's articulating ideas, resolving conflicts, or building relationships, this skill is a game-changer.
Workshops are more than just lessons; each is thoughtfully designed to inspire participants and spark meaningful change. Women leave with more than knowledge—they gain empowerment, confidence, and the courage to dream bigger. By cultivating an environment of support and collaboration, we ensure every participant feels valued and motivated to realize their full potential.
Empowered women empower others. Women equipped with the skills to lead, manage their finances, and communicate effectively transform their own lives and uplift those around them. Families become stronger, communities grow more resilient, and the world becomes a more equitable place.
Every woman deserves the opportunity to thrive. Through our workshops, we are creating pathways for women to realize their potential and take charge of their futures.
Let’s continue to empower, uplift, and inspire—one workshop at a time.
Menstruation with Pride: Awareness, Acceptance, Action
Sunita Ghimire has successfully completed her mission to promote menstrual health awareness. By educating women and girls with the knowledge and resources needed to take control of their health, she’s empowering them to lead with confidence. We thank Sunita for her dedication in breaking down menstrual taboos and inspiring positive change.
Awareness
Knowledge is the first step toward change. Through education and open discussions, we aim to dispel myths, address misconceptions, and raise awareness about menstruation. By providing accessible, accurate information, we can help people of all ages and genders understand the biological, social, and emotional aspects of menstruation. Awareness goes beyond facts; it empowers individuals to see menstruation as a natural and vital process rather than something to be hidden or ignored.
Acceptance
Acceptance means embracing menstruation as a normal part of human life. This pillar encourages individuals, families, and communities to acknowledge and support people who menstruate, rather than viewing it as a taboo or shameful subject. Acceptance promotes empathy and understanding, reducing discrimination and isolation related to menstruation. By normalizing the conversation around menstruation, we can foster a more inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable discussing their needs without fear or embarrassment.
Action
Awareness and acceptance must lead to tangible changes that improve lives. Action calls for practical steps to support menstruators, including better access to menstrual products, healthcare, and proper sanitation. It also means advocating for policy changes, supporting schools and workplaces in creating menstrual-friendly environments, and providing assistance to marginalized communities who may struggle to access resources. By taking action, we can create lasting change that empowers menstruators to live their lives with dignity and pride.
Menstruation with Pride: Awareness, Acceptance, Action strives to build a future where menstruation is understood, respected, and supported by everyone.
Let’s create a world where people can embrace their natural cycles with confidence, compassion, and pride.

The Magic of Childhood: Exploring, Creating, and Imagining the World
Childhood is a time of wonder, adventure, and endless possibility. It’s a period in life when the simplest things spark curiosity, and imagination knows no bounds. As adults, we often get caught up in the practicalities of life, but watching children explore, create, and imagine reminds us of the magic and joy that come with seeing the world through fresh eyes. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at three key aspects of childhood that shape the way children experience the world: exploring, creating, and imagining.
Embracing the Adventure of Childhood Exploration
For children, the world is a vast and exciting place, full of new things to discover and explore. Whether it’s the backyard, a park, or simply the objects in their own homes, children see every environment as an opportunity for adventure. Their curiosity leads them to ask questions, investigate their surroundings, and make sense of the world in ways that we, as adults, often overlook.
As caregivers, teachers, and parents, it’s important to encourage this natural curiosity. Allowing children to explore safely, ask questions, and try new things helps them develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence. Exploration is more than just physical activity—it’s about expanding their understanding of how things work and discovering their own interests. When we embrace the adventure of childhood exploration, we nurture their love for learning and help them grow into curious, independent thinkers.
Encouraging Exploration:
Take nature walks and let children lead the way, discovering plants, animals, or rocks along the trail.
Provide simple tools like magnifying glasses, maps, or books to help children dig deeper into their discoveries.
Allow them to ask questions and guide their own learning process by providing the space and time for free exploration.
Unlocking the Boundless Creativity of Children
Children’s creativity is limitless. They have an incredible ability to turn ordinary objects into extraordinary things—whether it’s turning a cardboard box into a spaceship or using their hands to craft masterpieces out of clay. This creative process allows children to express themselves, develop fine motor skills, and build self-confidence.
When children are given the freedom to create, they are empowered to think outside the box and solve problems in unique ways. Creativity isn’t just about art; it’s about finding innovative solutions to challenges and learning to see the world through a different lens. By nurturing this creativity, we help children realize that they have the power to make a difference in the world.
Fostering Creativity:
Provide open-ended materials like paper, paint, clay, or building blocks and let children create without specific instructions.
Encourage imaginative play, such as dressing up or role-playing, which allows children to invent new stories and characters.
Celebrate their creations, no matter how simple or complex, and let them know that their ideas are valuable and important.
Celebrating the Boundless Imagination of Children
Children’s imagination is a doorway to endless possibilities. Through imagination, children can travel to distant lands, become superheroes, or invent entirely new worlds. Imagination helps children make sense of their feelings, experiment with different roles, and develop emotional intelligence.
Celebrating and embracing children’s imagination allows them to express their thoughts and dreams in ways that might be difficult to communicate otherwise. It’s through imagination that children learn to dream big and develop resilience, as they play out different scenarios and explore “what if” possibilities. As adults, we can support children’s imagination by providing opportunities for pretend play and encouraging them to dream without limits.
Encouraging Imagination:
Provide children with storybooks that spark their imagination and allow them to dream of fantastical worlds.
Create opportunities for pretend play with costumes, props, and open-ended scenarios that allow them to invent their own stories.
Ask imaginative questions like, “If you could be any animal, what would you be?” or “What would you do if you could fly?” to spark creative thinking.
Nurturing Childhood Exploration, Creativity, and Imagination
As adults, we have the privilege of supporting and guiding children as they explore, create, and imagine the world around them. These fundamental aspects of childhood lay the foundation for lifelong learning, creativity, and emotional intelligence. By fostering a sense of adventure, encouraging their creative endeavors, and celebrating their wildest imaginations, we help children grow into confident, compassionate, and innovative individuals.
Let’s take a step back and remember the magic of childhood. Let’s see the world through their eyes and embrace the joy that comes with exploring, creating, and imagining the possibilities.
The Power of One: How a Single Action Inspires and Influences Children
In the vast and intricate world of child development, every interaction, every experience, and every action plays a crucial role in shaping a young mind. Among these influences, the power of a single action stands out as one of the most potent forces in a child's life. Whether it's a small gesture of kindness, an act of courage, or a moment of compassion, a single action has the potential to leave a lasting impact, inspiring and influencing children in ways that can shape their character and guide their future choices.
Children are natural imitators, constantly looking to the adults around them—parents, teachers, caregivers, and even strangers—for cues on how to navigate the world. When they see an adult perform an act of kindness, honesty, or bravery, it leaves a lasting imprint on their minds. The influence of a single action doesn't stop with the child who witnesses it. Children often share what they learn with their peers, siblings, and even their own children in the future. This creates a ripple effect, where one positive action can spread far beyond its original context.
The core values children internalize during their formative years lay the groundwork for their future success. Self-belief, for example, is often nurtured by observing adults who confidently tackle challenges and setbacks. When children see adults who believe in their own abilities and persist through adversity, they are more likely to develop a similar mindset. This self-belief is crucial for achieving personal and professional goals, as it fosters resilience and a proactive approach to overcoming obstacles.
The impact of the values children develop through observation creates a positive cycle. When children are raised with strong values, they are more likely to model these behaviors for future generations. This cycle perpetuates the transmission of positive values and behaviors, creating a ripple effect that can enhance the well-being and progress of entire communities.
This ripple effect highlights the interconnectedness of human actions and the profound responsibility we all share in setting positive examples for the younger generation. It's a reminder that every action, no matter how small, has the potential to create waves of change that can spread across families, communities, and even generations.
What is Financial Literacy, and How Can It Empower Women? Part 1
Part 1 of a series that explores the many parts of financial literacy, a vital skill set that unlocks the door to independence, education, career advancement, and more.
Growing up, many of us heard phrases like money can’t buy you happiness. While it is up to the individual to define what a happy life looks like, it is important to acknowledge that in most modern societies, money provides access to crucial things like food, housing, and healthcare. Even when things feel stable, unpredictable events like the Covid pandemic have shown us the need to be financially prepared to weather any storm.
Like many industries, the world of finance has historically been shaped by men, but there are now growing conversations around the unique monetary needs of women. Women are often caretakers for family members and tend to live longer, thus necessitating substantial retirement savings. These factors are complicated by the fact that women earn less than their male counterparts. It cannot be overstated that financial literacy is paramount to making the world more equitable for all.
The website Investopedia provides the following definition: “Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing.” Broad concepts like this can be overwhelming at first, so it’s important to break them down into smaller pieces.
Learning how to budget is a great place to start, as it is a keystone pillar of financial health. The 50/30/20 budget plan is a guideline that encourages one to spend 50% of your take home pay on necessities, no more than 30% on wants, and at least 20% on savings and debt repayment. Of course, there will be times when this is not realistic for everyone, but having information like this can help inspire people to take the steps towards making this a reality.
Women who are financially empowered are better equipped to enrich their own lives as well as contribute to their families and greater communities. Having the tools to navigate financial decisions in a healthy way helps one avoid scammers, be prepared for emergencies, and pursue one’s long-term goals with confidence.
Climb Your Everest wants to show the world how women’s empowerment can contribute to sustainable community development. Through workshops that provide hands-on learning in a collaborative environment, CYE gives girls and women the skills to become financially independent and spread the word to others. Learn more about how you can contribute to women’s empowerment programs currently active in India and Nepal. And stay tuned for the next post in this series!

I had the privilege to visit Omid Foundation in Tehran and meet these amazing and powerful girls who inspired me to the moon. I decided to climb the highest peak in Antartica to raise funds and awareness for these beautiful talented girls.
I had the privilege to visit Omid Foundation in Tehran and meet these amazing and powerful girls who inspired me to the moon. I decided to climb the highest peak in Antartica to raise funds and awareness for these beautiful talented girls. Omid foundation provides education and self-empowerment for disadvantaged girls in Iran. I arrived at the center around 1pm to eat lunch with the girls and staff. Lunch was loubia polo with cucumber salad. Right away we started talking about their life. I asked the girl next to me to tell me more about herself and her interests. Maryam with big brown eyes and a red scarf said that she likes to be an artist. She said she has been inspired by the volunteer art teachers who visit the center and she wants to become an actress. She also talked about her appreciation of the center and the staff. She said “My life completely has changed since I joined the center, I am a different person, I have confidence.” Their hopefulness and positive energy was inspiring beyond words. Please check their website for more information. More stories and pictures to come…

Climbing Kilimanjaro Video
I climbed Kilimanjaro to raise funds and awareness for the Kupona Foundation. Check out my video blog and please donate!
I am raising funds for Kupona Foundation who are helping women to recover from Fistula by curing them and teaching them skills to live a better life. Imagine if, while giving birth, you or your partner faced a complication requiring emergency medical care. Imagine if that care was unavailable, and you lost your baby. You grieve for the loss of the child who was so close to living. You, or your partner, suffer silently, trying to find a way to cope with the physical trauma that leaves you incontinent, unable to work and further devastated by judgment and abuse at the hands of your friends and family. Fistula program has treated patients as young as 12, and as old as 82. Imagine living like this for decades, certain that your pain will continue for the rest of your life. Imagine if this happened to your teenage daughter.
Please support these basic medical services by donating to my Crowdrise campaign for the Kupona Foundation.
